Associate Technical Representative

Position Summary:
Washing Systems (WSI) is a world leading innovator in chemistry and service, specializing in supply to the industrial laundry sector. We are seeking an Associate Technical Representative to work under the direction of experienced technical and commercial managers. The Associate's core role and challenge is to learn and progressively take on the role of Technical Representative (TR). The TR will work with Laundry Resource Managers (LRMs) & Engineers in the field. He/she will also work with WSI customers, gaining commercial and technical skills, knowledge & experience. On successful completion of the development program, anywhere between 12 - 24 months, the TR will graduate to the position of LRM with a portfolio of accounts to manage.

Essential responsibilities and tasks:

  1. Complete service, equipment maintenance and basic chemical analysis as directed by management.
  2. Contribute to regular service reports.
  3. Verify WSI product and process performance.
  4. Inspect and assess processed textiles to assure performance as above.
  5. Install and program WSI equipment to interface with customers' process equipment.
  6. Apply and refine dosage of WSI wash chemicals to optimize process and textile performance.
  7. Contribute to planning and executing new installations and/or system improvements.
  8. Manage expenses to agreed targets.
  9. Communicate with customers.
  10. Progress to independently manage customer service and equipment support.
  11. Work to specific, timed, measurable targets.
  12. All other duties as assigned.


  • A minimum of at least 3 GCSEs is required, with at least one subject being a technical/science subject.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and problem solving skills and attitudes.
  • Proven mechanical aptitude and experience. Appropriate apprenticeship or certificate level training would be preferred.
  • Experience or knowledge of basic chemistry would also be preferred.
  • IT literacy, competence in use of business software applications, particularly with “Microsoft Office” products.
  • Ability to represent WSI to our customers is a key success factor for completing the Associate Program.
  • Ability to act quickly, accurately and handle a fast-paced work environment.
  • Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  • May be required to be flexible with working hours.
  • Full and clean driving record. 

Physical Demands:

  • Travel and manual handling of products are frequent parts of the role
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle, or feel, and talk or hear
